YMCA of the Triangle
For 23 years Championship week - full of golf and community events - has provided countless memories for fans and attendees young and old. Golfing legends have walked the fairways of Prestonwood Country Club each year, battling for one of the largest purses on the PGA Tour Champions. This fall, the SAS Championship will near $6 million dollars in charitable giving to support area youth educational initiatives with the YMCA of the Triangle being the host charitable organization. The YMCA is partnering with SAS to run the event, and this year we are providing the Marshal for the Championship. Marshals ensure fair play among all participants as well as safety for spectators, and are stationed at locations throughout the course. Focus is on the tees, landing areas, greens and spectator crosswalks.
"A volunteer marshal at a golf tournament ensures smooth operations and a positive experience for players and spectators. Their key duties include: 1. Crowd Control: Managing spectator movement and keeping pathways clear. 2. Quiet and Safety Signals: Minimizing noise and distractions during play. 3. Ball Spotting: Locating and marking where balls land. 4. Information Assistance: Providing directions and course information. 5. Player Support: Helping players with course navigation and flow of play. 6. Rule Enforcement: Ensuring spectators follow tournament rules and etiquette."
