The YMCA of the Triangle Area YOTA Swim Team is an association-wide team comprised of competitors of all ages and skill levels. YOTA offers opportunities for swimmers of many different levels and abilities. This is a year-round activity that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship and personal achievement. YOTA Swim Team volunteers will have the opportunity to volunteer at swim meets as timers, meet officials, travel trip chaperones, parent advisory committee members and more. Camp G.R.A.C.E. is a day camp designed for children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), Autism Spectrum Disorder, and other special needs. Each session of Camp G.R.A.C.E. operates for one week, with each session focusing on building specific skills incorporating therapeutic ideas from many disciplines. We offer two different sessions: Social Skills and Building Blocks. Social Skills Sessions are designed for children that do not require one-on-one assistance. The focus of these sessions will be on activity skill building, teamwork activities, and social situations. The Building Blocks sessions are designed with a smaller ratio to allow for more individual attention. Facility Maintenance volunteers play a key role in prioritizing member safety and take pride in presenting a friendly, aesthetically pleasing, safe and healthy setting for the YMCA members and visitors. Facility Maintenance Volunteers assist our branch operations staff in maintaining the facility and its grounds. Inside, volunteers may be asked to wipe down wellness floor machines, fold towels, vacuum carpets or dust mop floors, wash windows and assist with other tasks to keep our branch in tip-top shape. Occasionally, assistance needed outside of the building may include trash clean up, or assisting with placement of event signage or decorations as an example. YMCA Camp Sea Gull/Seafarer
In keeping with the mission of the YMCA and Camps Sea Gull and Seafarer, a weekend volunteer member assists the directors in running safe and fun programs that are focused on character and skill development. Furthermore, weekend volunteers will ensure the safety and wellbeing of the participants in their care. Volunteers will assist staff in supervising and facilitating assigned weekend activity including, but not limited to: Creative Arts, Archery, Riflery, Canoeing, Swimming, and helping in the Dining Hall. Volunteers are expected to help provide an environment of physical, mental and spiritual safety for all participants. Volunteers must be 16 years of age unless they are volunteering with a parent. Volunteers should arrive on Friday afternoon or early evening to check in and get settled in staff housing (bring sheets for a twin bed or a sleeping bag, towels, toiletries, etc.). Typical day is breakfast at 8am, activities 9am-12:30pm, lunch at 1pm then rest period, then activities open again 2:30-5:30pm, dinner at 6pm then evening activities may require some volunteers to work in the evenings. At the Y we believe swimming is a life skill and all children and adults should have access to water safety classes and basic swim lessons. Swim for Life offers free swim lessons for children and adults based on income qualifications. The Program is funded through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign and a grant from Delta Airlines. Help teach the basic life skill of swimming. Under the instruction and guidance of swim lesson instructor staff, volunteers will help new swimmers learn to swim and manage swimmers as they take turns in the water. In order to provide continuity for swimmers, volunteer instructors are asked to attend all sessions over the three week period. Volunteers should be confident swimmers themselves. Spanish speakers are desired.

The Kraft Family YMCA offers a quality Track Out Program for students in grades K - 8. Our program includes active indoor and outdoor games and activities. The Track out Program is led by a team of high school and older staff who are supervised by full-time YMCA Directors. Volunteers will be high school age and older, and will help with arts and crafts and game time and other responsibilities may include cleaning and administrative tasks.

The Access Desk is the first contact our members have with the Kraft YMCA when they visit. Members are welcomed in an eager, warm and hospitable manner as they scan their card to access the facility, choose a locker and receive a towel. The Access Desk Assistant will contribute to the experience by greeting members in a voice that is nurturing, genuine, hopeful, determined and welcoming. They will help retrieve locker keys for members and fold towels while maintaining a neat work space. Responsibilities set at the discretion of the Welcome Center Coordinator.

The YMCA works with schools, teachers and guidance counselors to identify students who could benefit from this program and who may not have the resources or support to achieve their goals. The YMCA carefully selects counselors and a certified teacher for each Y Learning school site. Students are evaluated periodically to ensure they are making progress. Y Learning is completely funded through the YMCA of the Triangle's Annual Campaign. Help us bridge the education gap by tutoring at a Y Learning site near you.

Youth Legislature is a national program for high school students that prepares them for moral and political leadership through training in the theory and practice of developing public policy. The conference brings together diverse students from across the state to experience the governmental process first-hand through a unique "youth-run, youth-led" model.
