Taylor Family YMCA
At the Y we believe swimming is a life skill and all children and adults should have access to water safety classes and basic swim lessons. Swim for Life offers free swim lessons for children and adults based on income qualifications. The Program is funded through the YMCA’s Annual Campaign and a grant from Delta Airlines. Help teach the basic life skill of swimming. Under the instruction and guidance of swim lesson instructor staff, volunteers will help new swimmers learn to swim and manage swimmers as they take turns in the water. In order to provide continuity for swimmers, volunteer instructors are asked to attend all sessions over the three week period. Volunteers should be confident swimmers themselves. Spanish speakers are desired.
It is okay if volunteers can only come to certain dates, but it would be better for volunteers to come to as many nights as possible.

We ask that volunteers arrive 30 minutes prior to the first session for a pre-event meeting on April 8th. We’ll have communication prior to that day, but they’ll be able to walk the ground and meet the instructors at that time. Please bring your own swim suit you can teach in and towel. All YMCA facilities will be available to you for changing, storing your items, etc.
